Actually, “Why not?” is an answer disguised as a question. Cima has evolved it into a programmatic manifesto, a declaration of readiness for innovation, research, experimentation, and exploration. Through his interpretation as an artist, “Why not?” has turned into an invitation to open a door and look at what lies beyond what we already know. It’s a rhetorical expression without which perhaps organ transplants, electricity and chicken curry would not exist and man wouldn’t have gone to the moon. Using his original graphic and typographic language and his decisive chromatics, Cima created a series of graphic artworks that, starting with “Why not?”, were extended to several other languages. “Porquoi pas?”, “Warum nicht?”, “Waroom niet?” have been extended to several other language and as many artworks, all different from each other, all original. Can we call it a philosophy? Why not?
